Verify incoming pageviews and events, inspect active sessions, and use realtime reports without treating a short window as a trend.
Use Realtime to verify installation and inspect current activity. Use longer date ranges for performance decisions because a five-minute window is volatile.
Realtime shows recent visitors, live sessions, and incoming events.
It is best for verifying collection and observing a launch as it happens. It is not a substitute for a stable date-range report.
Verify installation
After installing the tracker:
- Open a tracked page.
- Navigate to another tracked route.
- Open Realtime for the same project.
- Confirm the pageview and session appear.
- Trigger a custom event if your implementation sends one.
If the visit does not appear, check the browser network request, project install key, allowed hostnames, and blocked paths.
Read the snapshot
The Realtime report includes:
- Active visitors in the recent window.
- Pageviews and events.
- Top pages and sources.
- Live visitor or session rows.
- Recent event details.
- Approximate country-level map context when available.
Select a session or event to inspect the recorded context. Do not treat it as verified personal identity.
Use longer reports for decisions
A realtime window is small and volatile. One campaign click or internal test can change its rankings.
Use Overview, Acquisition, Pages, and Campaigns for period comparisons. Use Realtime to answer “is data arriving?” and “what is happening now?”

How often does the realtime report refresh?
The current dashboard refreshes its live snapshot every 15 seconds and also provides a manual refresh action.
Why is my test visit missing?
Check the project, hostname allowlist, blocked paths, script loading, browser requests, and whether bot or internal-traffic rules exclude the visit.
